ANALYSIS: California Educators Want To Turn Math Class Into Activism

Education officials in California have proposed a math curriculum framework for the state’s K-12 public schools that would teach students math is about social justice and could deprive them of the opportunity to take more advanced classes.

California’s Instructional Quality Commission, which advises the state Board of Education, decided to move forward with the curriculum framework during a meeting last Wednesday. The guideline is expected to be presented before the Board of Education later this year.
