The Golden State Warriors and shooting-guard Jordan Poole agreed to a huge contract extension on Saturday.
According to ESPN’s Senior NBA Insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, the extension is worth a staggering $160 million over four years.

The extension assures Poole to be one of Golden State’s key players this season and in many years to come.
Poole is one of the best young players in the NBA today. Last year was his best season since being drafted into the league in 2019. Poole averaged 18.5 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game in 2022, according to ESPN. He started in 51 games during the regular season but was used as an impactful sixth man during the Warriors successful post-season run.
Poole’s craftiness and ability to knock down the three-point shot benefits the Warriors offense in a major way. Attempting Steph Curry and Klay Thompson is nearly an impossible task for defenses to stop to begin with, the emergence of Poole easily makes their offense the best in the NBA. The lucrative extension comes two weeks after Poole was punched in the face by teammate Draymond Green during practice. The Warriors investing in Poole over Green is indictaive that Golden State would rather have Poole under contract long-term than the troubled Green.
With Poole, Curry, and Thompson making well over $100 million on their deals, it appears that once Green’s contract expires at the end of the 2023 season, he’ll be the first domino of the Warriors’ dynasty to fall, and will have to play elsewhere due to teams’ lack of cap space.
The Warriors securing the contract of one of their best young players helps make them the heavy favorites to win the NBA championship again.
