San Jose State freshman running back Camdan McWright was killed Friday morning after colliding with a campus school bus while riding on an electric scooter, according to a statement from the school.

McWright was 18 years old, the school noted.

This is very sad considering how young Camdan McWright was. Not only did he have his entire football career ahead of him, he had an entire life to live out, too.

McWright had a dominant senior season at St. Genevieve High School in Panorama City, California, in 2021, according to Max Preps. He rushed for over 1,600 yards and had over 20 touchdowns. He will be remembered for his talent as a football player and for becoming a Division I athlete. (RELATED: Former NFL Cornerback Antonio Dennard Shot And Killed)

Odell Beckham Jr. (OBJ) spoke to the media during his time playing for the Cleveland Browns and said his friend and former teammate, Jarvis Landry, was almost killed in a similar incident in 2019 when they were both attending Louisiana State University.

Beckham Jr. said Landry asked to use his scooter to go meet with one of their coaches and called him shortly after to tell him he had totaled it.

OBJ claimed Landry had his pants catch on fire and suffered road burn up and down his legs from the wreckage. With that said, there is a case to be made for campuses banning scooters. Losing your life on a joy ride should never happen when you’re just trying to get from class to class throughout the day.

Condolences to McWright’s family and teammates during this difficult time.
