Famous actress Christina Applegate revealed during an interview with The New York Times that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis while filming the final season of her show “Dead to Me.”

Applegate said completing the show was the hardest thing she had ever done. She is aware of the dramatic transformation her life has undergone since she became aware of her condition. “This is the first time anyone’s going to see me the way I am,” she said to The New York Times. “I put on 40 pounds; I can’t walk without a cane. I want people to know that I am very aware of all of that,” Applegate said.

In spite of her medical setbacks, Applegate was determined to complete filming. She has come to terms with her new limitations, although she has not accepted her physical restrictions as her new reality. “Acceptance? No. I’m never going to accept this. I’m pissed,” Applegate said.

The actress best known for her role on “Married With Children” and “Friends” explained the physical warnings her body was giving her before her diagnosis, according to The New York Times. She described feeling off balance and admitted that her tennis game had begun to suffer as a result. Despite signals of muscular fatigue, she didn’t suspect anything was medically wrong with her.“I wish I had paid attention,” she said to The New York Times. “But who was I to know?”

Applegate indicated that the tingling and numbness in her extremities began to worsen over time, which prompted her to see her doctor. Filming was paused shortly after she received her diagnosis. (RELATED: Justin Bieber Suffers Partial Face Paralysis Due To Rare Illness)

“There was the sense of, ‘Well, let’s get her some medicine so she can get better,’” Applegate said. “And there is no better. But it was good for me. I needed to process my loss of my life, my loss of that part of me. So I needed that time,” she said to The New York Times.

Applegate’s days on set were grueling, but she refused to give up. She revealed that she struggled to walk down the stairs of her trailer and required a wheelchair to take her from the trailer to the set. During some scenes, sound technician Mitch B. Cohn was on the floor, outside of the view of the camera, holding up her legs, according to The New York Times.

“Dead to Me” will be released on Netflix November 17.
