Three bodies were recovered from a lake in Guthrie, Oklahoma on Tuesday after an airboat flipped earlier in the afternoon.

The boat with three people on board turned over on Country Club Lake around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, roughly 50 miles north of Oklahoma City, according to OKCFOX. The area was experiencing high winds at the time, which law enforcement suggested may have played a significant role in the accident.

Family and friends of the deceased were waiting on the boat dock at the lake throughout the day, waiting for updates on the searches from law enforcement, according to KOCO. Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Eric Foster told the outlet that his team was aware of three males in the water when they arrived on the scene.

OHP divers using the latest in sonar technology searched through the dark waters of the lake until they recovered all three bodies later on Tuesday night, around 7:30 p.m., OKCFOX continued. The divers expect to recover the boat Wednesday, which they identified and marked, OKCFOX noted. (RELATED: Woman Finds Human Remains As Drought Dries Up Mississippi River)
