Former Vice President Mike Pence told a CNN town hall Wednesday that he thinks it’s time for new leadership in the White House.

“The American people are looking for that kind of leadership that vigorously debates our issues, stands strongly for them, as I always have, but does so with gentleness and respect,” Pence said.

Pence refused to state whether he would support former President Donald Trump’s recently announced bid to win back control of the country, nor whether he would be running himself, according to CNN.

The former VP also said that Republicans will “have better choices” than Trump during the 2024 presidential election, telling CNN’s Jake Tapper that he’ll “keep him posted” on whether he decides to run himself.

When asked about Jan. 6, Pence referred to the events as “the most difficult day of” his “public life.” The day “angered” him, he stated after being shown video of people at the Capitol chanting, “hang Mike Pence.” (CNN’s Jake Tapper Cuts Off White House Adviser Attempting To Pin Putin For High Gas Prices)

Despite his issues with the events of Jan. 6, Pence said in no uncertain terms that the Jan 6. committee “has no right” to his testimony. But he has never stood in the way of what he feels is a very “partisan” committee asking his senior staff to testify and cooperate, Pence said.
