MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said Thursday that Republicans who used to “bend their knee” for former President Donald Trump aren’t doing it anymore amid changing tides.

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” panel was discussing Trump’s 2024 bid and how several mega-donors will not back his campaign.

“Joe, if you believe in following the money in politics, this is big money, saying ‘we’re not with Trump this time’,” Willie Geist said.

Scarborough then referenced the recent cover of the New York Post, which mocked Trump’s announcement. The Post reduced Trump’s bid down to “Florida man makes announcement” at the bottom of the cover and relegated to page 26 of the paper. “They talk about a guy who’s a golfer, a retired Florida guy who’s a golfer is running with unknown cholesterol levels. It’s about as dismissive as it could be, then it says by the way, he was also a former president of the United States,” Scarborough said. “You look at Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, especially the opinion page and things certainly are shifting. You also see, Mika, on Capitol Hill where you have a lot of Republicans who used to bend their knee to Donald Trump who just aren’t doing it right now.”

Trump announced Tuesday at Mar-a-Lago he would seek reelection after much speculation he would launch a bid. Trump criticized record-high inflation, the border crisis and record-breaking gas prices under the Biden administration.

Several high profile Republicans have either been hesitant to support Trump or have outright dismissed the chance. Republican Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears said recently Trump needs to step aside and she would not support him if he runs again.
