Barbara “Babs” Thore, who appeared as Whitney’s mom on the reality television show “My Big Fat Fabulous Life,” died of an untreatable medical condition Wednesday.

Whitney broke the news of her mother’s death on Instagram Thursday, and said she died “just as the credits rolled on her favorite movie.” She also shared her mother’s cause of death.

“My mom had cerebral amyloid angiopathy, which is an untreatable progressive condition caused by proteins in the blood vessels of the brain that can cause dementia, seizures, or like in my mom’s case, brain bleeding (hemorrhagic strokes),” Whitney wrote.

Whitney’s post revealed that her mother’s first stroke  occurred in 2017, her second in 2021 and her third in November.

She then spoke of the incredible love her mother possessed. “What you may have witnessed and felt through a TV screen is a minute fraction that, even if multiplied by a million, wouldn’t come close to “real life.” That’s how enormous, how generous, and how all-encompassing my mother’s love was,” Whitney wrote. “I am the luckiest person on the planet to have been hers for almost 39 years,” she said.

Whitney concluded her note by writing, “I love you, Mommy,” and was immediately met with a barrage of kind words of condolence from her adoring fans.
