Police in Florida arrested two alleged burglars Saturday after one of them made a 911 call seeking a ride to the airport from a home they reportedly attempted to rob.

Police arrived at the home in question after receiving a 911 call from the residence in which no one actually spoke. When they entered the residence through an unlocked door, they found a man and his girlfriend inside, neither of whom had any apparent ties to the home, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Police recognized the man, identified as Martin, from a surveillance video taken at a Dollar General that had been robbed earlier in the day, the sheriff’s office continued. Martin was arrested for both robberies and subsequently taken into custody.

Police also took the girlfriend, identified as Liz, into custody, according to the press release.

Police discovered Liz was the one who had made the 911 call, the press release continued. Liz allegedly told the police she called 911 because she wanted law enforcement to “assist her and Martin with moving their belongings from the house (the one they were burglarizing),” according to the sheriff’s office. She and Martin were also allegedly seeking a ride to the airport so they could travel to New York over the weekend. (RELATED: Man Wearing Only Underwear Fights Off Armed Intruders With Bare Hands)

In the end, Liz got the help she was purportedly seeking, but not in the way she had apparently hoped.

“Deputies DID help them with their belongings, and DID give them a ride, but it wasn’t to the airport…it was to the Polk Pokey. And they are welcome to stay there all weekend long. The Polk Pokey is much better than New York anyway,” the Sheriff’s office concluded in the press release.
