“Yellowstone” season five mid-season finale aired just over a week ago, and despite many still catching up with the series online, it’s time to run through the potential conclusions.

When we last left the Dutton family at the Yellowstone Ranch, they were dealing with adopted son Jamie’s (portrayed by actor Wes Bentley) potential impeachment of his father, Gov. John Dutton. After being easily manipulated into his actions by the most obvious corporate honeypot in history, Jamie decided to try and nail the final coffin into his family’s legacy, but may have finish construction on his own grave.

Bentley told a panel at the Screen Actors Guild on Friday that he doesn’t think his character will survive the rest of the series, according to Deadline. In fact, he thinks Jamie is already behaving like he’s about to get murdered.

“I don’t think he’s playing a game here. He does want to see something left for his son. I think he has seen himself [dead] from before the beginning of the season. He’s already end-gamed what is happening to him. He knows what’s coming and he’s trying to get what he can out of it by making some moves and taking opportunities,” Bentley told the panel. “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan has already planned the ending of the series, according to Screen Rant. He’s only told a few of the cast members what the conclusion will entail, but Bentley’s co-star and on-screen “brother,” Luke Grimes, is also out of the loop on that one.

My personal hope is that the Yellowstone-Dutton Ranch will end up in the hands of Tate Dutton, the son of Grimes’s character Kayce Dutton. This is the perfect full-circle for the entire Dutton legacy, which started with the death of Elsa Dutton in “1883,” leading her father to settle land once owned by Tate’s Native American ancestors.

Of course, if Sheridan really want to anger the entire American public, Jamie will end up with the ranch in his hands. He’ll do what all city folk do: take something beautiful, turn it into plastic, and sell it back to the people who loved it when it was real.
