With an uncertain future for hit cowboy drama “Yellowstone,” could the show’s leading couple take the reins in a spin-off series of their own?

The almost life-long relationship between Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) has been part of our lives since the first episode of Taylor Sheridan’s “Yellowstone.” Beth is the matriarch of the Dutton-Yellowstone Ranch after the premature death of her mother, which left Beth stunted in a childlike rage.

While her rage is definitely part of her charm (and her cowboy ancestry), could it lead an entire spin-off series? In my opinion, yes. But only if it’s balanced with the quiet, brutal power of her soulmate, Rip.

A “Yellowstone” spin-off series between the young(ish) couple would be the perfect step forward for the franchise. Particularly with season five of the original show still hanging in the balance.

“Yellowstone” was supposed to return in the summer of 2023, but promotional materials for the mid-season return were unlisted on YouTube at some point in the last few weeks. Rumors of a poisoned relationship between Sheridan and the show’s current leading man, Kevin Costner, are also plaguing the internet. We might never see a true conclusion to the “Yellowstone” saga should the ego and off-screen drama continue.

So, a spin-off with Beth and Rip would be kind of perfect. We’ve already been promised a Texan spin-off series set at the 6666 (pronounced “Four Sixes”) ranch, as well as prequel spin-offs galore. (RELATED: REPORT: The Next ‘Yellowstone’ Prequel Announced By Paramount Executive)

Talking to Entertainment Tonight in January 2022, Hauser’s response to a Beth and Rip spin-off was “hell yeah!” Hauser and Reilly apparently love working with each other.

“I would love to continue working with her. And Taylor. That’s why I say yes, and I think, if it presented itself of course I’d definitely entertain it,” he continued. “You’d never know what her and I could get into. With Taylor writing, it could be a really interesting show.”
