A man appeared to take matters into his own hands when he tackled an alleged shoplifter Sunday at a TJ Maxx in California, video shows.

Video taken by a bystander shows two women in black hoodies carrying what appears to be multiple bags worth of goods and trying to exit the store. The man grabbed the second woman’s bags after seeing one of the women get away, and she began to punch him, the video shows. The man did not let go of the woman and eventually tackled her to the ground. She seemingly starts to exit the store without the bags at the end of the clip.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. at a TJ Maxx in Mira Loma, California, ABC7 reported, citing a witness. One Twitter user hailed the man as a “good Samaritan” for his actions to thwart the alleged robbery. (RELATED: Man Turns Himself In After Allegedly Stealing 200 Gallons Of Cooking Oil: Police)
