“Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade sparred with Democratic El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser on Wednesday over the border crisis and the city’s move to clear the streets of migrants ahead of President Joe Biden’s visit in January 2023.

Biden visited the city in January, marking his first trip to the nation’s southern border. Biden met with local nongovernmental organizations offering assistance to illegal migrants. The president did not see the migrants despite hundreds crowding the streets in the hours leading up to Biden’s arrival.

Kilmeade put the blame on Leeser, accusing him of not holding the administration accountable for the crisis at the southern border.

“And the crazy thing is when the president came, you guys cleaned up the streets so he saw a … sanitized El Paso, not the one that you have to deal with everyday. Mr. Mayor, thanks so much,” Kilmeade said.

“Well, let me – let me explain something,” Leeser responded. “That was a very incorrect statement. When the president came, the numbers had gone down, and you were able to see they were going down, and I knew that.” (RELATED: ‘Slap In The Face’: Border Enforcement Will Go Back To ‘Normal’ Now That Biden’s Visit Is Over, Officials Say)

“Come on, you cleaned up the streets! Mr. Mayor, you cleaned up the streets for the president. You – that was not a candid look of El Paso, and you know that,” Kilmeade said.

“No, sir, that’s a very incorrect statement. It’s a shame that you would put out that type of statement because that created –”

“You know it is, look at it now. Look at it now compared to what he saw,” Kilmeade said.

“Okay, but remember, in December, the numbers went down all the way through to just recently. And the numbers have increased recently. Why have they increased recently? Because Title 42 is getting ready to expire and they’re here on their false –”

“Right now, Title 42 is only turning around 3o%. All right, Mr. Mayor, unfortunately I have to run. You’re in a bad situation and you should call out the administration on it and help your people,” Kilmeade said.

Leeser jumped in again to defend Biden for having visited El Paso once before Kilmeade cut him off.

“He’s come once and his policies did this. He broke the border, destroyed your city and he wasn’t called out for it, and that’s on you,” Kilmeade said. “And [Alejandro] Mayorkas is an embarrassment to this country, and he’s destroyed your city.”
