A former high school snowboarding coach filed a federal lawsuit after he was allegedly fired for expressing his views on transgender-identifying athletes, according to The Federalist.

Former high school coach David Bloch was reportedly waiting with his team in the ski lodge as females were slated to compete against biological males competing in the women’s category.

Bloch allegedly overheard a conversation between two of his student-athletes about the subject and briefly joined in. He allegedly said biology matters because men and women develop differently and males generally have a competitive advantage over females in athletic competitions. According to the lawsuit, the conversation was respectful and lasted no more than three minutes, and was not had anywhere near the trans-identifying snowboarder.

The coach allegedly received a notice of termination the next day.
