Superstar actor Dennis Quaid’s new faith-based music project, “Fallen: A Gospel Record For Sinners,” topped the Top Christian/Gospel album chart in August.

The album also made its way to the No. 15 spot on the Billboard Top 200 Christian/Gospel chart, according to Taste of Country. Quaid’s latest works focus on his lifelong relationship with Christ, and how his faith has followed him through childhood to his adult experiences with addiction.

“I always identified as a Christian. Even when I was addicted, I was still praying,” Quaid told Forbes in an interview Aug. 4. “When you’re addicted to cocaine you can’t get any sleep and I would scream at God at night, making promises I couldn’t keep, and asking him to take this away. But I was trying to do things my own way.”

“We try different things to fill that hole inside us whether through money or fame or sex or drugs or whatever,” he continued. “I was on that path, and it wasn’t until I got off cocaine that I actually began developing a personal relationship with Jesus.”

Quaid said he has been making music since he was a child, and always wanted to be a musician before he became an actor. Though he’s toured and played professionally for decades, Quaid has recently leaned into the Nashville music scene. It’s probably a smart move for Quaid as the cracks begin to appear in Hollywood’s future. Marred with ongoing strikes that will likely cripple production for years, and a slew of celebrities backing away from the toxicity of the industry, Quaid is returning to Christ just in time.
