A poll released Thursday indicates that numerous Republican primary candidates would beat President Joe Biden in a 2024 general head-to-head matchup.

Former President Donald Trump, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Vice President Mike Pence, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie would all beat Biden for the White House, according to a CNN/SSRS poll. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is tied with Biden at 47%, and conservative businessman Vivek Ramaswamy would lose to the president by 1 point.

“Tim Scott is the candidate the radical Left fears the most,” Campaign spokesperson Nicole Morales told the DCNF in reaction to the poll. “The more people get to know Tim, the more they are attracted to his message of hope and optimism anchored in conservatism. Tim has the message, resources, and the fight to compete anywhere and defeat Joe Biden.”

Trump is up by 1 point against Biden, while Pence, Scott and Christie all lead the president by 2 points, according to the poll. Haley is ahead of Biden by the largest margin at 49% to 43%. (RELATED: Overwhelming Majority Of Americans Say Biden Is Too Old To Govern Effectively: POLL)

“Nikki Haley is our best hope in taking back the White House,” Ken Farnaso, Haley’s campaign press secretary,  wrote in a tweet forwarded to the Daily Caller News Foundation upon request for comment. “We only have one shot. It’s time to play to win.”

The survey also suggests that a majority of voters who went for or are leaning toward for Biden would do so as a vote against Trump rather than simply a vote for the president at 64% to 36%, respectively. On the other hand, 62% of voters who say they’d vote for or are leaning toward voting for Trump are doing so to vote for him, while only 37% said it was a vote against Biden.

The RealClearPolitics (RCP) average for a 2024 national Republican primary, based on polls conducted between Aug. 24 and Sept. 4, indicates Trump is leading the crowded field by nearly 40 points, followed by DeSantis at 14.9%, Ramaswamy at 6.8%, Haley at 6.1% and Pence at 4.9%. All other 2024 hopefuls garnered less than 3% support.

For a national Democratic primary, based on polls conducted between Aug. 2 and Aug. 26, Biden has 65.8% support, compared to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson with 12.8% and 6.3%, respectively, according to the RCP.

The CNN/SSRS poll surveyed 1,503 individuals from Aug. 25 to Aug. 31 with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 points.

Biden, Trump, DeSantis, Pence, Christie, Scott and Ramaswamy’s campaigns did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.
