Bryan released a statement.

“Today I had an incident with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Emotions got the best of me and I was out of line in the things I said,” Bryan wrote. “I support law enforcement as much as anyone can, I was just frustrated in the moment, it was unlike me and I apologize.”

Bryan released his second studio album Aug. 25 2023, self-titled, “Zach Bryan.” His collaboration on the album with Kacey Musgraves, “I Remember Everything,” is currently sitting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

“They brought me to jail, and there is a mug shot of me floating around,” Bryan continued in his statement. “Prayers we can all move on from this and prayers people know I’m just trying the best I can. I love you guys and I am truly sorry to the officers.”

“I’ve got seven Red Bulls in me. And I just wanted to be completely transparent with everyone who listens to my music about what happened with me yesterday,” Bryan said in a video posted after his initial statement. “I have to deal with the legalities of it. I did go to jail … I was an idiot today. And my decisions did not reflect who I was as a person. I should have been smarter about it.”

Bryan then elaborates, describing the alleged encounter with an officer, who he says demanded his address during a traffic stop. During Bryan’s initial refusal to provide his address, the country star says he was handcuffed at one point. The officer eventually let him go, according to Brian’s recollection.

Later, Bryan says police stopped his security guard who was driving in a different vehicle following him to Boston. The music artist says, “like a dumbass,” he eventually got impatient and “too lippy” with the officer, who then threatened to arrest him.

“I felt like a child. It was ridiculous. It was immature. And I just pray everyone knows I don’t think I’m above the law. I was just being disrespectful and I shouldn’t have been. And it was my mistake,” Bryan added.

Bryan said he was being rude to the officer while he was in handcuffs and eventually shook hands with the officer after being released from the jail cell.
