Savannah Chrisley says her parents, Julie and Todd Chrisley, who are currently behind bars for bank and wire fraud and tax evasion are teaching finance and real estate classes to reduce their prison terms.

The “Chrisley Knows Best” reality television star said in an Oct. 3 episode of her podcast “Unlocked With Savannah Chrisley” that the irony of the situation is certainly not lost on her. The 26-year-old noted that the First Step classes her parents are teaching were established to help prisoners reintegrate with society after release.

Savannah said her father is teaching a trauma class as well as “a financial class — which, how ironic.”

Savannah also detailed her mother’s teaching experiences while she serves her term behind bars.

“I know [Julie] definitely taught classes, like she taught a real estate class, she’s got all these certificates from teaching and completing classes and all these things. Overachiever Julie is… always been,” Savannah said.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons’ online inmate search system reportedly states that Todd and Julie have both had their sentences reduced. Todd will be released a full two years before his 12-year sentence is complete. Julie’s seven-year sentence was reportedly reduced by 14 months, according to People. Todd and Julie were indicted for 12 counts of bank and wire fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy in August 2019, and have continued to maintain their innocence and deny all claims made against them, according to People.
