Incredible and devastating stories of survival are emerging from Israel and the Gaza Strip as war erupted throughout the region Saturday.
Defense attorney Marina Medvin shared a thread of survival stories on Twitter, and we want to warn you: they’re pretty heavy. But so, so important. The first story of the thread centers on Inbal Liberman, who helped ensure Kibbutz Nir-Am suffered zero casualties. Liberman is the head of Kibbutz security and deployed other members to fight off 25 Hamas terrorists, saving the entire kibbutz.

Another, jaw-dropping story came from the parents of an Israeli police officer. When Palestinian terrorists entered their home, the mother offered them something to drink. She kept them engaged in small-talk until an elite team rescued them. Isn’t that just incredible?

But the parents of 10-month-old twins did not meet the same fate. Adar and Itai Berdichevsky of Kfar Aza hid their infant children in an air-raid shelter while they waited for the terrorists. Both were military trained, but did not survive the attack. They killed seven terrorists before their lives were taken too early. Their children were alone in the shelter for 13 hours before Itai’s brother found them. They are currently surrounded by love and care.
