Barbie Under Fire For Cherokee Nation Doll

Barbie created a series of dolls modeled on “Inspiring Women,” and people are upset that one of the women is an iconic chief from the Cherokee Nation, according to The Associated Press

Mattel created a Barbie inspired by Wilma Mankiller who expanded education and rural healthcare in the Cherokee Nation and was the tribe’s first female principal chief. Some people believe the Barbie looks too much like a Barbie. It doesn’t have the curves and the look of Mankiller, so it’s not an accurate representation. 

It’s a damn Barbie. 

Honestly? Understandable. If they wanted to honor a heroic Native American woman, why would they choose this nobody when Elizabeth Warren is RIGHT THERE?
