An incredible video of a “snownado” went viral on social media Wednesday, and it’s so beautiful to watch.

Once again, we are walking into a year of weird weather, which started with a freaking “snownado” hitting the slopes of Breckenridge, Colorado, according to a video shared by ABC News. The video technically shows a “snow devil,” but it is still extremely cool (pun definitely intended) and unlike anything we’ve seen from the natural world for a while.

The event stunned onlookers, as you can hear the crowds “oooooh-ing” and “aaaaaaaahh-ing” as it floated over the slopes and skiers zooming by.

Of course, ABC News decided to put some stupid captions over the first part of the video, so you can’t even see the thing move properly. Eventually, the caption disappears and we’re able to get a proper look at the thing. (RELATED: Shocking Aerial Footage Shows Florida Trailer Park Devastated By Tornado)

This is not the first “snownado” to hit the U.S. Back in 2022, one of the icy monsters was captured on camera in Idaho, according to the News & Observer. And even though both the Colorado and Idaho examples are technically just snow devils, snow-based tornados are actually real.

On November 23, 2013, a supercell thunderstorm in southern Ontario, Canada, created a brief EF1 tornado filled with ice crystals, according to the National Weather Service. This, my friends, is a real “snownado.”
