An unnamed insider told US Magazine in April that there are plans in place should “Yellowstone” lead Kevin Costner flake on his commitment to the show and its fans.

Costner’s future with “Yellowstone” is still undetermined because apparently We The Fans mean absolutely nothing to him right now. Though he plays the lead on the show, the character every storyline revolves around, there’s no news on whether Costner plans to complete the last few episodes due to ongoing issues with production. So, what will happen if he doesn’t show up for us?

“They’ve internally discussed going a couple different ways with the story line if Kevin doesn’t return,” an insider told US. “[Co-creator Taylor Sheridan] could incorporate a big event to explain the disappearance, or there’s a calculative move to protect his family from an enemy.”

If Costner doesn’t return, the story will apparently focus on “the children and ranch hands and their relationships, conflicts and alliances.” Like, no duh. (RELATED: Kevin Costner Reportedly Loses An A-List Friendship Over Taylor Sheridan’s Newest Show)

Puck News claimed in March that Costner wants to return to round out the season, so he best make that happen. And yet there are also rumors that Sheridan himself wrote Costner out of the final episodes. If Sheridan does this, he’ll break my damn heart.

Why can’t creatives just shut up, get along, and show a little respect to those of us who gave them their joke of a career in the first place: the fans.
