“Morning Joe” host Mike Brzezinski spent the first fifteen minutes gushing over President Joe Biden for the first fifteen minutes as her husband, Joe Scarborough, was notably absent.

Scarborough called on Biden to consider stepping down from the 2024 race following the president’s lacking performance at Thursday night’s debate against former President Donald Trump. Brzezinski opened the show Monday praising Biden both on a personal level and for his legislative record.

She argued Biden made public appearances after the debate that was “night and day” from the debate immediately after presenting headlines urging him to bow out of the race.

“It was bad. He said ‘Beat Medicare.’ He couldn’t seem to land a thought, it was an unmitigated disaster by any measure,” Brzezinski said regarding the debate. “More than three days after that debate, it is still hard to comprehend what we saw from that president. The weak, raspy voice, the inability to complete basic thoughts, most importantly, the failure to call out Donald Trump on his endless lies. Where was that? And yet, the very next day in North Carolina, there was Joe Biden. Back to form, finding his voice, his winning smile, his vintage sparkle back in his eyes, two appearances that were as different as, well, night and day.”

Biden spoke with a raspy voice and struggled to speak in a clear, concise sentence on the debate stage. The incident made Democrats and liberal members of the media lose hope in his ability to serve a second term after passionately defending his mental capacity before the debate.

Brzezinski suggested age is just a number, arguing the 81-year-old president’s age brought the “wisdom” to pass bipartisan legislation.

“I don’t think it’s over. This race fits the entire narrative of Joe Biden’s life. In his personal and professional life, Biden has repeatedly risen up from rock bottom. It’s what we love about him. So many draw hope from his empathy and his ability to have perspective, even right now, and to persevere when he is completely counted out,” she said. This appraisal of Biden followed Friday’s “Morning Joe” panel lamenting the president’s performance, with Scarborough even stating Trump will win unless there is a drastic change in the race.

“We’ve been asking, why is this race close? We have no idea why this race is close,” Scarborough said during Friday’s segment. “We saw last night why this race has been close, and why I fear Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States, unless things change.”

He further said it is “hurting America” to not seriously consider an alternative for the Democratic nominee.

“The question is, though, despite my belief that Joe Biden has had an extremely successful first term, is it time for him to step down?” Scarborough asked. “And that’s a question — that window is not completely closed. But it is closing, and I will say with all due respect, the governor of California, you are not hurting America, you are not hurting the cause of America by asking these tough questions now. You are hurting the cause of America by closing your eyes, putting your head down, saying we’re going to just plow forward regardless of what we saw.”

Two aides for Biden rushed to tell NBC News that Biden suffered from a cold during the debate, though no mention of any illness had been mentioned before the event.
