Long before there was Balloon Boy, there was this balloon-centric clip that thousands have been calling a hoax and even more have been calling simply awesome: a proposal where the engagement ring quite literally floats away prematurely. Whether or not the couple ‘did this for the show,’ there’s still a lesson to be learned here. It’s not clear how generalizable it is (“don’t put your engagement ring in a balloon?”), but there’s definitely a lesson somewhere.
