Jay Reatard, born Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr. of Memphis, died early this morning. The cause of death isn’t known as of 4:25 p.m. today, though his former label, Goner Records, is reporting that he died in his sleep. Reatard has been making music for a long time; in fact, he sent his first tape to Goner when he was just 15. He recently signed to Matador Records, which released Watch Me Fall this summer.
