Julianne Moore’s same-sex love scenes with Annette Bening in “The Kids Are All Right” got extra hot during filming, but not for the reasons you’d hope.
On Tuesday, at a lunch in honor of the film at Rouge Tomate on E. 60th St., director Lisa Cholodenko told Gatecrasher that, for the Sapphic south-of-the-border scene, the film’s “production designer decided to pick a really heavy blanket” for the actresses to have in bed with them.
“Julianne had to spend a lot of time under it, and I started to get really worried,” said Cholodenko. She said that she repeatedly asked Bening, “Is she suffocating down there?” To which Moore would reply, from beneath the blanket,”I’m fine under here, let’s keep going!”
