This is footage Rev. Al Sharpton probably hoped would have been lost over the years.
A trailer for an upcoming documentary about the late Morton Downey, Jr., a 1980s provocateur and talk show, revealed a side of Sharpton many likely haven’t seen. During a tease of the part about a friendship Downey and Sharpton had, the reverend is shown calling out an audience member.
“I’m tired of them acting big,” Sharpton said to the riled-up Downey audience. “You ain’t nothing! You a punk faggot — now come on and do something.”
In recent years, “punk faggot” seems to have disappeared from Sharpton’s vocabulary, at least publicly.
The film,”Évocateur,” is due out next year.
