Facebook drama isn’t just for high school bullying victims anymore. Someone hacked into French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s Facebook account Sunday and posted a false announcement that the president would not seek re-election in 2012, AFP reported Monday.

The translated spoof message reads, “Dear compatriots, given the exceptional circumstances our country is experiencing, I have decided in my spirit and conscience not to run for office again at the end of my mandate in 2012.”

The post also included a link to an invitation to have “leaving drinks” with Sarkozy on election day 2012.

Heavy with grammatical errors, the impostor’s message was quickly removed.

Sarkozy’s Facebook page posted an updated message in the aftermath of the hacking that states, “My Facebook account was hacked into this evening, perhaps to remind me that no system is infallible.”

Sarkozy has not yet confirmed whether he will seek re-election, but another Facebook post hints that he’s planning to run. “I have noted the writing and spelling lesson, but do not subscribe to the rather hasty conclusions of the [hacker’s] message,” Sarkozy’s post reads.
