I love technology. Smartphones, iPads. . . you name it. Gadgets thrill me. The rapid pace of communication excites me.
But I have to admit that I was slow to jump on the Twitter and Facebook bandwagons. They are great social networking and social media sites, but I didn’t think of them much beyond that until I started seeing federal agencies using them.
I began to follow the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Interior, Commerce, Justice, Treasury and Health and Human Services, along with many sub-departments. On Twitter, agencies can very quickly share information about a variety of things, including their mission, initiatives and even events you could sign up to attend. And then there’s this: Many of these agencies use their accounts to alert their followers about job openings.
Many openings have been posted on Twitter in recent weeks.
