Asian financial markets open lower

Asian stocks took a sharp fall at the open on Friday, hit by sharp falls in the U.S. market as worries over the global economy dominated the mood, offsetting the impact of Japan’s currency intervention and monetary easing the previous day.

The FTSE CNBC Asia 100 Index [.FTFCNBCA  6441.37    -48.89  (-0.75%)], which measures markets across Asia, declined 0.8 percent.

Japan’s benchmark Nikkei average [.N225  9659.18  —  UNCH  ] opened down 1.97 percent at 9,469.16, while the broader Topix shed 2.05 percent to 809.46.
