And for the people who aren’t… Why did you click that headline?
So. My knee. My busted-up, crusted-up knee. Here’s a picture, circa this morning:

I went back to see my surgeon this morning, the amazing and fantastic Dr. John Klimkiewicz. He took some x-rays and he’s very happy with what he sees. The procedure he did, called an osteochondral allograft, is still fairly new, but everything looks great. The bone that was grafted in is fully integrated, meaning you can’t tell by looking at the x-ray that it’s new. So structurally, it’s all good.
My pain level is improving. These days it’s like I bumped it really hard against a coffee table 10 minutes ago, all the time. Advil and Aspercreme usually help. And I don’t know if you can tell from the pic, but my thigh muscles are still kind of atrophied from all that time not putting weight on the leg and not bending the knee. I can walk now, but it’s still pretty stiff-legged (and going up and down stairs sucks), so I’m not really working those muscles. Dr. K wants me to start doing leg weights a few times a week to build that back up, and then we’ll see how I’m doing in three months.
As for the legal stuff everybody always asks me about: Yes, there is legal stuff, yes, it’s ongoing, and no, I’m not going to say more than that.
I’m not out of the woods yet, but I can see patches of daylight here and there. Thank you for reading about my problems.
