Rudy Giuliani formally announced Tuesday that he will not run for president.
The former mayor of New York City made the announcement at a Long Island association event. (RELATED: Christie delivers presidential endorsement)
Speculation about Giuliani was rekindled a couple weeks ago when it was reported that one of his top aides had traveled to New Hampshire to speak to various Republicans there about the state of the Republican field.
However, a number of Giuliani’s former supporters had signed on to Mitt Romney’s campaign, making a run seem less likely
The news means that the Republican field is probably set, with other possible latecomers like Sarah Palin and Chris Christie having already announced that they will not run.
