Three former porn stars are running for mayor in the south of Italy, The Independent reports.
Luana Borgia, Milly D’Abbraccio and Amandha Fox have begun battling it out in order to become the next mayor of Taranto and Torre del Grecco. Ms Fox and Ms Borgia have set their sights on Taranto, and Ms D’Abbraccio is hoping to take Torre del Greco.
Yesterday evening Ms. Fox beat Ms. Borgia in an online poll to become candidate for the Taranto Awake Party.
Ms. Fox, if elected, plans to clean up the polluted city by kicking out the heavy industries and transforming it into a “Puglian version of Atlantic City.”
In addition, Ms. Fox plans to develop tourism by building casinos with attached hotels, restaurants and nightclubs. Yet her biggest plan is to create “Taranto Sex,” an event that would take place twice a year the she hopes will become famous worldwide.
However, last month Fox took to the pole against her fellow rivals and according to observers, they suggested that her success in beating Ms. Borgia was more likely due to her performance.
All three women can look to the success of Hungarian-born porn star and politician La Cicciolina, who became an Italian MP in 1987 while still filming hardcore pornographic films.
La Cicciolina, born Ilona Staller, was famous for delivering political speeches with one breast exposed. She distinguished herself during her five-year term in office by proposing the creation of “love parks” and by offering to have sex with Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden to avoid war between Iraq and the U.S.
