Seven foot tall Greg Oden finally returned to the court Wednesday after nearly four years of knee complications, debuting as a member of the Miami Heat in a preseason game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
He only played four minutes total in the 108-95 win, but he dunked, grabbed two rebounds and got a turnover, reports ESPN.
“I was so excited for him when he got on the court and he checked in — and his first basket he gets a dunk,” teammate LeBron James said. “Can you write it any better? Obviously he’s not where he wants to be, but the process is going great.”
“It was just great to see him do something he loves to do,” Miami’s coach Erik Spoelstra said. “It was taken away from him for four years. We just continue to make patient, steady progress forward from here.”
Oden played for the Portland Trail Blazers from 2007-2012 when they released him. Miami scooped him up for the 2013-2014 season.
