Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, of crack-smoking, drinking, and threatening to kill someone fame, has broken on to the U.S. political scene. Republican George Demos, a congressional hopeful in New York’s First District, is up with an ad linking Democratic incumbent Rep. Tim Bishop to Toronto’s infamous mayor.
“Tired of politicians?” the narrator asks as the ad shows a photo-shopped picture of Bishop, President Barack Obama and Ford. Ford’s mouth is open as if in mid-speech, in a position mirroring Bishop’s own expression.
“Then look at George Demos,” the ad continues. “He’s not a politician.”
That is the last mention of Ford in the ad, which goes on to tout Demos and his positions.
