Giant, mutant-hunting robots are no strangers to the X-Men mythology, but the latest film iteration by director Bryan Singer marks the first time the “Sentinels” will appear as a major plot point on-screen since a cameo appearance in 2006’s ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ — the only film out of the original trilogy not directed by Singer, and that fans would rather forget.
WATCH:
“Days of Future Past” is based on a 1981 Marvel Comics storyline of the same name and chronicles a dystopian future in which mutants are hunted and incarcerated in internment camps. The anti-mutant hysteria of the future is brought about by a cataclysmic event which X-Men of the past, present and future join forces to try and stop.
The film hits theaters May 23, 2014.
