Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps was arrested early Tuesday morning in Maryland for driving under the influence, TMZ reports.
He was initially pulled over for going 84 mph in a 45 mph zone while driving his white Land Rover. He was charged with a DUI, excessive speeding and crossing double lane lines. He has already been released from jail. (RELATED: Michael Phelps Comes Out Of Retirement)

The 29-year-old has been arrested for a DUI before, when he was 19. The swimmer struck a plea deal in that case and got 18 months probation.
Phelps tweeted out this apology Tuesday afternoon.
