Robert Downey Jr. made a surprise appearance Sunday at an Ohio Air Force Base for a screening of his new movie, “The Judge.”
Though the film doesn’t premiere until Friday, Downey showed up at the packed theater at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, surprising over 900 military personnel and their friends, who cheered the actor’s arrival.
After asking his Twitter followers to guess “where in the world” he was, Downey shared that he had gone to the military base, saying there were “so many heroes, so little time.”

Downey told the Dayton Daily News that he’s always been drawn to “all things military.”
“It’s just a way of reminding myself that there are people out there who put their lives on the line so I can go out and make movies.”
In “The Judge,” Downey plays a lawyer who returns home because his judge father is on trial for murder.
