On the cusp of a staggering loss by Democratic Senator Mark Udall, former Obama press secretary Jay Carney strongly implied on CNN Tuesday that if Udall had campaigned with President Barack Obama, he could have won the race.
I want to make another point about something, and that is, you saw what is happening in Colorado. Senator Udall in the fight for his life, and it does not I think look very good for him given what John King was saying. When Michael Bennett pulled out that remarkable victory back in a very bad year for Democrats, Barack Obama campaigned for him. In this cycle, Mark Udall did not want Barack Obama to campaign for him. Now, there are things that go into these narrow, narrow victories and narrow, narrow losses. But I that speaks to some of the decisions that Democratic candidates made around the country when it came to asking the president to campaign for them.
