Another week has dawned in America. You know what that means: more female high school teachers and staffers arrested for having consensual sexual relationships with male teenagers.
The cast of characters this time includes Melody Lippert, an English teacher at South Hills High School in West Covina, Calif., and Michelle Ghirelli, a school district employee, according to local ABC affiliate KABC.
The unique feature about this teacher-sex tale is that Lippert, 38, and Ghirelli, 30, enjoyed their romps with the male students during an overnight camping trip with a larger group of male students at San Clemente State Beach — about an hour south of West Covina on Orange County’s stunning Pacific Coast.
Lippert appears to be the ring leader in the frolics. Back in November 2014, investigators say, she gave alcohol to a group of male high school students at San Clemente State Beach and had sex with an underage male student.
The second trip to the same beach with Ghirelli occurred in December. Many of the same students were involved in both trips.
The student with whom Lippert allegedly had sex is 18 years old, reports the Orange County Register.
The student with whom Ghirelli allegedly had sex appears to be under the age of 18.
Somewhat oddly, KABC hastens to add that the Orange County Sheriff’s Department has not specified the exact type of sex in which the students and teachers engaged.
School district officials have hastened to add that the overnight camping trips involving underage drinking and teacher-student sex were not school-sponsored events.
“As soon as we found out about this, we contacted the police department,” Covina-Valley Unified School District spokeswoman Michelle Van Der Linden told the Los Angeles Times.
“We’re taking the matter very, very seriously,” she added.
Van Der Linden also pointed out that both teachers have been placed on paid administrative leave and a letter has been sent home to district parents.
As for Ghirelli and Lippert, Sheriff’s deputies arrested both teachers this weekend. They are now out on bail.
Lippert, a 15-year veteran teacher with the West Covina school district, faces charges of conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Ghirelli, a school district employee for five years, faces charges of oral copulation and unlawful sex with a minor.

Still another similar story occurred in Pennsylvania in July when a married, 26-year-old high school English teacher was arrested for having sex with two 18-year-old male students and giving them some beer inside her home while her husband was out of town on business.
