HuffPost editor-in-chief Arianna Huffington is putting her foot down on negativity.

No more of it! Let’s be positive, she wrote in a memo to staff on Friday, as reported by Gawker‘s J.K. Trotter. She says Facebook numbers show that uplifting news wins the day. She wants “positive contagion.”

“While we will continue to cover the stories of what’s not working—political dysfunction, corruption, wrongdoing, etc.—as robustly as we always have, we want to show that the era of “if it bleeds, it leads” is over, and start a positive contagion by relentlessly telling the stories of people and communities doing amazing things, overcoming great odds, and facing real challenges with perseverance, creativity, and grace.”

The new “What’s Working” initiative will be global and headed up by Greg Beyer, Lance Gould, and John Montorio in the U.S. along with Sebastian Matthes, HuffPost’s Germany’s editor-in-chief.
