Sorry about your upcoming documentary and interview with Diane Sawyer, Bruce Jenner, but we are pretty sure your own mother just confirmed that you are indeed “transitioning” into a woman.

Esther Jenner said that though she only recently learned about her 65-year-old son’s decision to become a woman, she is proud of him–more proud than she was when he won that Olympic gold medal back in 1976.

“I have never been more proud of Bruce for who he is, himself as a father, as an Olympian, wonderful public speaker,” Esther told Radar Online Tuesday.

“He instills enthusiasm in people. He’s gifted.”

No, like she’s really, really proud that her son wants to become a woman.

“I am more proud of him now than when he stood on that podium and put the gold medal around his neck,” Esther said.

“He deserves all the respect.”

People confirmed over the weekend that Jenner had decided to transition. Though his physical appearance has hinted at the rumors–he had his Adam’s Apple smoothed out, frequently gets manicures and wears his hair long—Jenner has never outright confirmed it. He’s reportedly been making subtle changes so his family can adjust accordingly. (RELATED: Report: Bruce Jenner Is Officially Becoming A Woman)

Jenner will have an “at length” interview with ABC News and Diane Sawyer in May.
