Jennifer Lawrence is taking responsibility for making less money than men in Hollywood.
After the Sony hack last December revealed that the 25-year-old actress made less than the guys did in “American Hustle,” Lawrence wrote an essay for Lena Dunham’s feminist newsletter titled, “Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?”
“I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early,” Lawrence wrote. (RELATED: Jennifer Lawrence: ‘A Donald Trump Presidency Would Be The End Of The World’)
“I gave up early. I didn’t want to keep fighting over millions of dollars that, frankly, due to two franchises, I don’t need.”
“I would be lying if I didn’t say there was an element of wanting to be liked that influenced my decision to close the deal without a real fight. I didn’t want to seem ‘difficult’ or ‘spoiled.’” (VIDEO: Nude Photos Of Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton Released In Huge Leak)
She thought her paycheck was fine until the Sony hack revealed that her co-stars made more than her.
“This could be a young person thing,” she said. “I’m sure it’s both. But this is an element of my personality that I’ve been working against for years, and based on the statistics, I don’t think I’m the only woman with this issue.” (PHOTOS: Jennifer Lawrence Has More Nude Photos, But This Time They’re On Purpose)
