Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh has taken recruiting to the next level by climbing trees at night to impress recruits with his own athletic ability.

Harbaugh was in Los Angeles visiting four star cornerback recruit David Long, Jr. when he apparently decided that the best way to impress Long was to go climb a tree, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Climbing a tree wasn’t the only thing he did to impress Long. The two also played a game of catch, which is a much more traditional recruiting activity.

The former 49ers coach has often been in the news for his off-the-field quirky comments and activities. A noted meat and dairy enthusiast, Harbaugh loves giving health advice and has said his daily vitamin is a steak. (RELATED: Michigan Coach/Man’s Man Jim Harbaugh Takes A Daily Vitamin: ‘It’s Called A Steak’)
