Kim Kardashian’s mother leaked her sex tape on purpose, a new book claims.

In “Kardashian Dynasty,” Ian Halperin writes that a source in the “adult film industry” told him that Kim signed a contract with Vivid Entertainment in 2007 to publish the tape she made with the rapper Ray J in 2003. (RELATED: Kim Kardashian: I’m More Than My Sex Tape)
“A mutual friend of Kim and Paris [Hilton] had advised her that if she wanted to achieve fame, a sex tape would be the way to go,” the source told Halperin. “Kim had discussed the idea of producing a tape with her family beforehand.”

Halperin writes that a third party initially approached Vivid Entertainment about the tape, and Vivid Entertainment then reached out to the Kardashian family. They told the family that the tape would likely leak anyways, so the Kardashians should distribute it and get paid for it. (RELATED: Kim Kardashian Posts Completely Nude Photo Online )
A former friend of the Kardashians told Halperin that Kris Jenner “engineered” the release.
“It was Kris who engineered the deal behind the scenes and was responsible for the tape seeing the light of day,” the friend said.
“It is clear that Vivid would not have announced plans to distribute Kim’s tape without a clear indication from the family that they would give the go-ahead once they had come to terms on a price,” Halperin said.
