Demi Moore, Emma Stone, Kaley Cuoco and several other celebrities accidentally registered for the American Independent Party in California.

They thought they were checking the box for “no party affiliation,” but they mistakenly registered as members of the AIP, a minor conservative party in the state.

A telephone survey conducted by the Los Angeles Times found that 3 in 4 people were not aware they had registered for the party that opposes same-sex marriage and abortion rights and believes in building a fence along the United States border.

The mistake could prevent Moore and tens of thousands of voters in “The Golden State” from voting in the June 7 presidential primary.

In the state, Republicans have a closed primary this year.

Though Democrats will allow voters with “no party preference” to vote, a person registered under AIP can only vote for presidential candidates on the AIP ballot.

“Demi Moore is not, nor has ever been, a member of the American Independent Party,” a spokesperson for Moore told the LA Times. “Any record that states otherwise is a mistake.”
