Kristen Stewart says she refuses to label her sexuality and “if you don’t get it,” she can’t help you.

The actress opens up in an interview with Variety. She says the younger generation has it right and stresses that no one should have to explain their sexuality or who they like.

“Me not defining it right now is the whole basis of what I’m about,” Stewart said. “If you don’t get it, I don’t have time for you.”

“There’s acceptance that’s become really rampant and cool,” she added. “You don’t have to immediately know how to define yourself.”

The actress admits in the past she has struggled labeling her sexuality and finally came to the conclusion that she didn’t have to.

“I had to have some answer about who I was,” she went on. “I felt this weird responsibility, because I didn’t want to seem fearful. But nothing seemed appropriate. So I was like, ‘F—k, how do I define that?’ I’m not going to.”

But Stewart says it’s important to her that she not downplay others struggle and that she doesn’t want to be seen as an example.

“I didn’t want to be this example: it’s so easy,” she went on. “I don’t want it to seem like it was stupid for them to have a hard time.”
