Jennifer Lopez said she was pressured to “lose weight” early on in her career in Hollywood.

At a TV event in Hollywood Thursday night, the 46-year-old actor and singer talked about the early days of her career when she left the world of dancing for a career as an actress, according to E!.

“They kept telling me to lose weight,” she said. “And I was a dancer and I was athletic and even my manager at the time, who I no longer work with, um, was telling me, ‘You need to lose weight. You need to be thinner.'”

“I was like, ‘No I don’t,'” she added. “‘If I lose any more weight it won’t be me. You know what I mean?'”

“At the end of the day I was just trying to be myself without trying to fit into a mold of what everybody else should be,” she continued. (RELATED: Jennifer Lopez: Women In Hollywood Are Held To A Different Standard Than Men)

Earlier this year in another interview, Lopez talked about how after all these years her bodies curves are what she has come to embrace about herself. “That I’m flawed,” she said. “I actually love that part now … I used to hate it because I’m such a perfectionist.”
