During her acceptance speech, Hillary Clinton claimed she was not out to “take guns away” from people. It’s typical anti-gun tripe, but the Washington Free Beacon notes that previously, Hillary’s made some statements that would indicate otherwise. So, here is the big question that we’d love to see Donald Trump ask Hillary at the debates: When were you lying? Was it when you praised Australia’s 1996 gun confiscation law, or was it during your acceptance speech? It would be very interesting to see how she handles that question when she cannot avoid answering. C’mon, Trump, let her have it!
July’s Record: 2.2 Million Guns Sold… At Least
You know, the public has a way of speaking their mind on gun control, even when the media pushes gun bans or “universal background checks.” Well, in July, after the terrorist attack on the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, the public spoke. A record 2.2 million background checks were performed last month. That is over 600,000 higher than the previous record. Just imagine if they all joined the NRA. It would be a huge wake-up call for the gun-grabbers. Let’s just hope those mooks hit the snooze button.
GAO Catches ATF Breaking the Law
Under federal law, it is illegal to create any sort of firearms registry – or list of gun owners. It’s in plain black and white – just look at 18 USC 926. Well, the Daily Caller reports that the GAO has caught the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives hoarding the personal information of firearms owners. This is a big freaking deal, to paraphrase Joe Biden. Gun-grabbers have always wanted registration – in order to enable confiscation.
Dealing With a Nosy Doctor
Have you ever been to the doctor to talk about the cold, or just a check-up, and then he asks you if you own any firearms. You’re probably asking yourself, “What the heck does gun ownership have to do with my health? How do I handle this doc?” Well, the Daily Caller has some tips for you when this sort of thing happens. You’d think doctors would be trying to figure out how to handle real health problems, like the Zika virus, but instead, they think you exercising your Second Amendment rights is a public health threat. And you wonder why Zika’s breaking out across the fruited plain like mildew, to paraphrase comedic legend Andrew Dice Clay. Hey, doctors! I’ll tell you how Zika breaks out: When you blow your funding and time on gun-grabbing nonsense, you ain’t ready to handle a real public health threat, like a virus outbreak! Congress needs to say, “Hey, fellas…”
Apple’s PC Nonsense Hits Guns
You’ve probably seen emojis. Heck, you’re probably sick of those cartoonish things. Well, Apple’s going PC with their gun emoji after a letter from New Yorkers Against Gun Violence. The realistic-looking revolver is gone in the latest Beta of iOS 10. Replacing it? A lime green squirt gun. Lame, Apple. Just lame.
How Are D.C.’s Gun Laws Working?
Washington, D.C. has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. They were the respondents in the landmark Heller case that established that the Second Amendment as an individual right. Even after the Heller ruling, D.C. has the strictest gun laws in the country. Yet this past weekend, D.C. still saw a rash of violent crime, the victims including a six-year-old. So, what good did disarming the law-abiding do? None, as anyone with common sense could tell you from the get go.
Lone Star Campus Carry in Effect
Texas has just seen campus carry take effect. If the track record of open carry at the Republican convention in Cleveland is any indication, it won’t be an issue at all. That hasn’t stopped some college professors from turning to the courts to toss out the campus carry law. Really? Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has opposed the lawsuit, saying, “There is no legal justification to deny licensed, law-abiding citizens on campus the same measure of personal protection they are entitled to elsewhere in Texas.”
India Doubles Down on Dumb
India, as the former crown jewel in the British Empire, gained a lot of good things from its association with the United Kingdom. But it also inherited some not so good things. Specifically, overly strict gun control laws that didn’t exactly stop the Bombay attack in 2008. So, what is India doing? Doubling down on dumb, that’s what. They tightened the laws even further. Guess some folks never learn. The cold truth is that some ISIS or al-Qaeda jihadi would not think twice about beheading Ghandi – or anyone else they think would make good propaganda. Perhaps India should have heeded this saying from Ghandi: “Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest.”
Obama Lets 56 Loose
One of the dirty little secrets gun-grabbers don’t want people to know is that some existing gun laws can be very effective at putting violent criminals in jail for a long time. Well, Obama’s now letting loose 56 folks who have been hammered with prison terms for using a firearm while trafficking drugs or for being felons in possession of a firearm. All the while, he refuses to go for slam-dunk convictions on portions of 18 USC 922 and 18 USC 924 that could really make a dent in the crime rate in places like Chicago, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. Could it be that actually enforcing existing laws would make calls for gun bans look stupid?
