Two young Canadian women were arrested Sunday with more than $20 million worth of cocaine while on a cruise liner vacationing around the world.
Isabelle Lagacé, 28, and Melina Roberce, 22, are now facing life in prison. After stopping in Sydney, Australia, authorities found a combined 200 pounds of cocaine in their suitcases, and 63-year-old fellow Canadian Andre Jorge Tamine’s luggage.
The drug seizure was the largest ever for a passenger cruise or airline, the Canada Journal reports.
Four different law enforcement teams collaborated to investigate and apprehend the globetrotters: The Canada Border Services Agency, the New Zealand Customs Service, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Australian Border Force and Federal Police.
Like many millennials, the two thoroughly documented their global adventures and merrymaking. Roberge’s Instagram page said “currently traveling,” as of Friday.
